PushBack

Level design

In Pushback, you take on the role of an adventurer navigating through a dungeon, with the primary goal of eliminating all enemies by pushing them into hazardous environmental elements, such as spikes, traps, or abysses. The focus lies on the strategic use of the environment, making each encounter dynamic and engaging.

I designed the entire level design of Pushback on my own, focusing on creating an abundance of lethal opportunities. The numerous traps scattered throughout each level offer a diverse range of options for dispatching your foes. Additionally, grappling hooks are strategically placed to facilitate rapid movement, allowing the player to escape dangerous situations or instantly access new combat zones. This high mobility ensures a fast-paced, exhilarating combat experience.

The structure of the level design supports multiple playstyles, encouraging creativity and experimentation. Each zone of the map features a distinct combination of mechanics and environmental elements, offering players the opportunity to adapt and vary their strategies. These differences promote continuous exploration and a progressive mastery of the game’s various mechanics and gameplay elements.
